We started with a grandmother's notebook.

Vedic.store began the summer of 2019 in a small kitchen in Coimbatore. My grandmother, Kanaka amma, kept a cloth-bound notebook of ubtan recipes handed down from her mother. Turmeric and rice for weddings, rosemary and sandalwood for the monsoon, coconut butter for the long days after harvest. Bathing was never a rushed act; it was a conversation with the body.

We wanted to share that quiet. So we started blending small batches in our home apothecary — the way the Ayurvedic texts describe it — cold-pressing oils by hand, sun-drying petals, grinding roots on stone. Every jar is dated, signed, and shipped within a week of being made.

Today, we work with a network of eight small farms across the Nilgiris, the Konkan coast, and Kerala. Nothing is mass-produced. Nothing contains synthetic fragrance, sulphates, or parabens. If a recipe works, it's because it has been quietly working for a thousand years.

Snana is not a chore. It is a small daily devotion — the body offered up to warmth, water, and quiet.
